At the meeting, questions about cooperation opportunities between Latvia and Japan were discussed, as well as JSC Grindeks development plans. The Ambassador pointed that it was a great honor for him to visit the leading pharmaceutical company in the Baltic States, and expressed his opinion that JSC Grindeks could become the ambassador of the industry. He also commended company’s long-standing collaboration with Japanese partners and wished to maintain the momentum, continuing to develop this destination.

Juris Bundulis, Chairman of the Board of JSC Grindeks: “The cooperation between Grindeks and Japan began already in the 1960s. The first contract with company “Taiho Pharmaceutical” for the supply of the substance of original product Ftorafur ® (tegafur) was signed in 1972, and I am sincerely glad that successful cooperation with Japanese partners continues today. Although the pharmaceutical market in this country is strictly regulated, Grindeks successfully develops the export of active pharmaceutical ingredients to Japan in both the human and veterinary segments. ”
